Objectives

Students should be able to

• determine rational function zeros and solve basic inequalities, analyse the limiting value of functions, continuity and the derivative

• find the derivatives of basic functions

• apply the derivative to polynomial functions to determine maximum and minimum values

• determine the largest and smallest values for rational functions

• use technological aids to analyse limiting values, continuity and the derivative and to solve rational equations and the use of derivative of polynomial and rational functions in solving practical problems.
